Cherry Macro

Here's another cherry pic - I haven't had a chance to take new photos since these were taken, so I'm looking back through them to see which ones catch my eye...

Cherry Macros

My Father In Law was busy today picking cherries from the tree in our back yard, and so of course I had to take some pics! It was difficult because I kept eating my subjects ;)

Another Pic Of My Pup

I'm sure I'll post many many many of these as the days go by... my puppy dawg! I'm not really a traditional portrait person, though - I love odd angles and weird crops.

A Quick Post

I've been taking lots of pics lately, but most of them have been of people (family and friends, at personal events). I did manage to take a few of my kids' new bikes while they were not riding them (although this was tricky ;)

Here's a bit of my daughter's bike:

June Madness

I'm still here!! June and December are the two months where I don't have a lot of time on my hands for "non-Mom" stuff. Not only is June the school wrap up month, it's also a month with family birthdays and Father's Day. This means not much time for photo blogging, unfortunately.

To further complicate things, my laptop died! Thank goodness I'm obsessive about backing up pics before deleting them from cards or I'd be mighty cranky right now!! I don't know if the data on the laptop is lost or not - I'll have to wait until it's serviced to find out. Meanwhile at least my stress is reduced a bit because I do have a second copy of all the pics that are on it.

I'll resume posting pics again soon - meanwhile, happy June, everyone!!! (And wish me luck with my laptop!!)

Caterpillar Macro

I was outside to water the garden and spotted this lil' guy on the hose, so I ran inside to get my camera...

More Strawberry Macro Shots

I meant to post these the day I took them, but forgot...

Fun With Selective Colouring

I just couldn't resist ;)

Another Fly Macro

I'm not having much luck with these, lol. In order to get the shot without scaring the fly away, I hold my camera as close to it as I can get, but I don't lean down. This means I'm shooting blindly, so to speak, and I can't properly compose the photo (and yet I keep trying ;) This time, as you can see, I cut his legs off at the bottom. Oh well, maybe next time!

RedBubble T-Shirts Review

My Mom had me order a t-shirt from my RedBubble page and I received it in the mail today. For the benefit of anyone thinking of selling/buying t-shirts on RedBubble, here's my take:

Price: reasonable (it was about $20 per shirt, depending on your currency, plus shipping)

Shirt quality: Good.

Shirt sizing: Here we have an "oops"... the regular short sleeve was exactly the size I expected, but the second shirt that I ordered in the "girly fitted" style was way bigger than the measurements on the website (and I double checked). Not sure where the mistake was, but in future I'll just stick to the regular short sleeve for sizing.

Presentation: Good. They come with a tag that includes washing instructions, artist info (with RedBubble artist http:// address) and a RedBubble e-mail address to use if you have a concern about your order.

Delivery time: Good. They were sent within the time frame promised.

Art quality: This is the second "oops" for me: the image was a bit darker than on the web site. The shirt I ordered was a portrait of my dog, and on the shirt his eyes are not really visible (too dark), and on one side of his face, the shadow is a bit green. I'm reluctant to criticize RedBubble for this because the texture of the art on the shirt seems to be high quality, and it's possible that the image I used of my dog just wasn't a good one for a t-shirt.

Bottom line: Overall I'm happy. I'll continue to create tees for sale on RedBubble, but I'll be more selective about the art that I use. (I've since removed the shirt featuring my dog and I'll either lighten it or simply not put it back up.)

Cat Portrait

This is one of my cats :) She has the most amazing green eyes, but I liked this shot better in black and white. This is a crop from the original (to eliminate distracting elements from the background). She wouldn't stay where I wanted her, so I had to follow her and take whatever shots I could get, lol...

Playing With Focus

Here are three shots of the same puddle under our balcony stairs. In the first shot I focused on the puddle itself, in the second shot I focused on the image in the reflection of the water, and in the third shot I focused somewhere in between and ended up with straight lines on either side of the puddle. It was kind of neat so I thought I'd post them...

Photo Business Cards

Designing photo business cards for family and friends is something that I've done that relates to photography, so I thought I'd show some of them here. Most of these cards feature my own pics, with the exception of Lady Shutterbug Photography, and Kate's Kuddlers, who provided me with photos they wanted used.

Mmmmm... Lunch! (Or Not ;)

My son's preschool class went to the beach yesterday, and he tried to catch us lunch! lol (Actually it was a classmate & friend who found the crab and passed it to my son to look at). It was a bit windy (you can see the sleeves of my son's jacket), but the sun was out, so that was nice.

Not Processed At All ;)

Kidding of course. I had fun playing with curves in this shot (after I cropped the original). I like the intensity of the colours (although it may be a bit overdone).
